Will Iranian actor go to next Oscars?

Iranian-Afghan title ‘Rona, Azim′s Mother’ is shortlisted among hopefuls to rep Afghanistan at the Oscars 2019.

Directed and written by Jamshid Mahmoudi, the flick will vie with two other titles to become Oscar submission in the foreign-language category for Afghanistan at the latest edition of the Academy Awards.

The Iranian-Afghan film which will go on screen at the “A Window on Asian Cinema” section of 23rd edition of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea.

Produced by the director’s brother, Navid Mahmoudi, the 89-minute flick narrates the story of Azim.

Azim, an Afghan refugee who works at the municipality at night, lives in Tehran along with his family.

Being the family’s head, he must choose between himself and his mother whom he claims is the most important one in his life.

Mohsen Tanabandeh, Mojtaba Pirzadeh, Fatemeh Hosseini, Fereshteh Hosseini, Fatemeh Mirzaei, Alireza Ostadi, and Saeed Changizian are among ‘Rona, Azim′s Mother’ cast.

Now the question is whether 'The Capital' series star along Mohsen Tanabandeh with other cast and crew could make it to the Oscars 2019.
